Armstrong founded the Radio Church of God in the early 1930s, as well as Ambassador College in 1947; the Radio Church of God name was changed to the Worldwide Church of God in 1968, he was an early pioneer of radio and television-evangelism, originally taking to the airwaves in the 1930s from Eugene, Oregon.
