Наш повратак истинском животу може да започне тек онда када схватимо да је наш свакодневни живот уствари - живот у далекој туђини. Онај ко бар једном у свом животу није осетио да је његов живот - живот у туђини, ко себе није осетио као изгнаника и бездомника изгубљеног у духовној туђини, тај једоставно не може да схвати суштину Хришћанства. Онај ко се у овом свету и животу осећа потпуно "код куће", ко никада није окусио тугу за неком другом стварношћу, не може никада схватити шта је то кајање и покајање. Јер покајање није у формалном набрајању сопствених недостатака, грешака и преступа.
