I aspire to pursue truth with you, create dialogue, contribute to and defend free inquiry, and engage in civil discourse on what matters most in life. I am a philosopher and social scientist at Harvard (The views expressed here are mine alone, and do not represent any other organization or group to which I am affiliated). I received a number of awards for my teaching at Harvard. My work and ideas have been covered in, among others, the New York Times, Science Magazine, Harvard Magazine, Harvard Gazette, Atlantic Monthly, BBC, NPR, Forbes, Psychology Today, and the Boston Globe. I graduated from Harvard Medical school with honors, and Harvard Divinity School, and was awarded the Peter J. Gomes, STB '68 Distinguished Alumni Honor.
