LEARNING TO LIVE AFTER CHEMO I'm DC (David Charles) learning to live again, starting again after losing everything. In 2011, I was living in Japan, in a small town between Sendai, and the coast of Miyagi. On March 11th 2011 we were hit by a 9 plus Magnitude Earthquake, and Tsunami. After 9 months of scrounging for food and water, cleaning up, rebuilding and helping others. I visited my family in Australia for Christmas. While there I was diagnosed very high stage 4 Follicular Lymphoma, that has no cure, the best I could hope for is a remission. It is a relapsing type of cancer, that will return no matter what, and the more you treat it, the shorter the remission periods, and the stronger it gets. This left me homeless, my career and business gone, and in limbo, my wife in Japan had to leave it all behind to come and support me. After chemo and radiation, then 14months of more "maintenance" chemotherapy, and 2 years to the day of the first diagnoses I was diagnosed as very high stage 4 again! After going through more chemotherapy in a clinical trial that almost killed me, the cancer continued to grow, the tumor around my aorta grew faster than ever, so then I had to go in to a stem-cell transplant that almost killed me, and did briefly, I stopped breathing a number of time. I was bed ridden for 5.5 years total. Now I am trying to start a new life, and continuing the battle against this relapsing cancer, trying to find a permanent home for my family, and I am trying to help people manage theirs, and support them through their journey too. Initially, this channel was used as a convenient way to get lessons/excercises out to former students who are no longer local to me. MMA Fighting: UFC, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) News, Results Wrestling and striking where different limbs of the body such as kicks and punches are involved, as an act of human aggression, has probably existed throughout the world throughout the history of mankind in close combat, being the form of more natural aggression a combination of these as can be observed in a more basic way in attacks by mammals closer to man such as the chimpanzee or the gorilla. At the competition level, different types of boxing and wrestling have existed throughout humanity, being combined in competitions in numerous cases. In Ancient China, combat sport appeared in the form of Leitai, a no-holds-barred mixed combat sport that combined Chinese martial arts, boxing and wrestling. The Pancrastinae: A statue portraying the pancratium, an event which took place in the Roman Colosseum. Even as late as the Early Middle Ages, statues were put up in Rome and other cities to honor remarkable pankratiasts. This statue, now part of the Uffizi collection, is a Roman copy of a lost Greek original, circa 3rd century BC. A scene of Ancient Greek pankratiasts fighting. Originally found on a Panathenaic amphora, Lamberg Collection. In Ancient Greece, there was a sport called pankration, which featured grappling and striking skills similar to those found in modern MMA. Pankration was formed by combining the already established wrestling and boxing traditions and, in Olympic terms, first featured in the 33rd Olympiad in 648 BC. All strikes and holds were allowed with the exception of biting and gouging, which were banned. The fighters, called pankratiasts, fought until someone could not continue or signaled submission by raising their index finger; there were no rounds. According to the historian E. Norman Gardiner, "No branch of athletics was more popular than the pankration."There is also evidence of similar mixed combat sports in Ancient Egypt, India and Japan.
