Quake 4

Quake 4, a First Person Shooter blast from the past of the good old days of 2005, and wow it's actually very fun to play! You get to blast alien baddies, along with some real tough guy male squad mates. And the feel of war is very well done too, especially considering the age of this game. The squad dialog is actually good enough for an old FPS, and overall, I'm enjoying it so far! Story: After marines assassinate the Strogg leader, Earth’s military restarts the attack on the Strogg homeworld, Stroggos. Matthew Kane, part of the elite Rhino Squad, spearheads the invasion. I took some of the most disturbing footage from my Quake 4 gameplay and put this together. The game is very, very freaky at time, not horror level scary, but the just the atmosphere and what is being done to the human marines by the Strogg is disturbing. The Strogg are themselves some form of cybernetic beings who make new Strogg by assembling biological components from other species by fusing them together with seemingly advanced alien technology, in what is called Stroggification. This is one ugly looking Strogg! And this thing is tough to deal with too, killing me at least twice trying to get past it! Don't think they grew this one out of a human! This scene blew my mind! This is where the main character of Quake 4, Matthew Kane, undergoes Stroggification; a conversion of a human being into an alien Strogg elite soldier through Strogg cybernetic surgery and augmentation. Stroggification is a barbaric surgical process where limbs and flesh are modified and fused with machinery. This process is also the only way the Strogg are known to procreate. The Strogg are so good at this, they can even salvage dead body parts and use them in the creation of new Strogg. Becoming a Strogg becomes critical in Quake 4, as human soldiers simply can't get through some of the security areas the Strogg have created where a DNA scan is required. Quake 4 is a sci-fi military first-person shooter, and is the direct sequel to Quake 2. The game features very interesting elements of horror and gore that can be quite shocking. Some of the best parts of the game is when you're not alone, and are working as part of the Rhino squad. In comparison to Doom games, this is a very welcome way to play. Although, you do get plenty of alone time when sent to specific objectives which often include fighting some crazy powerful enemies on your own. The story is that Earth's military was able to kill the Strogg leader, and is taking the war back to Stroggos (the Strogg homeworld). You play as Marine Corporal Matthew Kane and are part of the elite Rhino Squad, and you are given critical missions to help Earth forces win the war. This does not of course go like a walk in the park, which leads to the Kane being captured and put through Stroggification, a brutal process of turning a human into a Strogg. The game is awesome from start to finish, with a few vehicle segments that are ok but they are showing their age. Inside the walls though, this game is up to par with many modern shooters, and in fact the AI moves the enemies in such a way that's the difficulty level is quite good for even seasoned players of FPS games.
