On The Run (short film)

Originally published on YouTube on September 18, 2019 This video sets the stage for a short film that I have been working on and what better way to start things off! than #StealthCamping on a creek! I explore the woods while house sitting for my sister and discover an awesome spot to set up for a stealth-like overnighter. The sound of the water and cooler temperatures that are slowly creeping in are very relaxing as summer is on its way out. I love camping near water because it so easy stay hydrated and it is not necessary to pack water in. The short film: I have no idea where I got this idea from and I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this. So far, it has been very fun filming it. Primarily, I am doing this film to purposely force myself to practice and use various #bushcraft and #survival skills. You will see additional, new scenes at the end of my videos going forward until there is an ending. After the final scene airs I will release the entire short film as one video. I recently built a raised bed there and plan on keeping the spot as a small #bushcraft. The US Modular sleep system is becoming my go to sleeping setup more and more. It is hard to beat #MilitarySurplus because of it's quality and durability although it isn't the best option for lightweight backpacking. I really love the protection from the elements that the #bivy provides. Bushcraft Trip in the Rain/ "On The Run" Scene 5 Originally published on YouTube on December 4, 2019 #bushcraft #camping #primitivesurvival In this video I head out into the woods to relax and enjoy a little bit of that lovely campfire cologne. Nothing beats a good campfire along with a few good brews. The rain isn't a factor because of the outdoor gear I brought with me. Sometimes it's good to just get out and enjoy the outdoors. MY MACHETE US WWII JUNGLE MACHETE, COLLINS & CO. LEGITIMUS 1945 Original period manufacture. Dark finished 18 inch blade with a very clear Collins marking on the revese ricasso. Hard wood handle secured by four steel rivets. I used to play with this machete when I was a kid. Back then I painted it green and beat it up plenty. It was my Dad's when he was in the Air Force. He served in the Korean war. Three years ago I found the machete in storage. I put a decent edge on it and painted it black with high heat engine spray paint. Today I have beat this thing up so much and have used it many videos. I still sharpen the edge frequently and I am convinced that I'll never buy a big blade to replace this machete until it finally breaks. Old steel is good hard steel. Tarp Shelter, Cold Rain, Long Fire/"On The Run" Scene 6 Originally published on December 17, 2019 In this video I find a spot in a beautiful woodland to set up a #tarpshelter. Despite the cold rain I am ready to get in some #wintercamping. Mild temperatures drop to the mid twenties overnight. With the help of a big long fire I stay very warm until time to crawl out of my sleeping bag the next morning. The morning was very cold. I was so cold it was difficult to focus and get the fire going again to boil water in my #bushcraft pot for coffee. Originally published on YouTube on January 1, 2020 "On The Run" Back in the summer of 2019 I was going through the bathroom cabinet and found a little jug of Halloween makeup blood. Immediately an idea popped into my head. I was going to film a movie. As silly as that sounds, I began filming scenes while also filming my normal videos giving my audience a new scene of the film with every video and it pretty much made double work for myself. A lot of work went into this project and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Looking back, I see how I could've done it better, could've done more. More plot. More #survival skills, more #primitiveskills. I went into it knowing that there are many skills that I want to learn and need to learn to be able to survive in the #outdoors. In this film, I didn't even scratch the surface. This project was fun to make but also opened my eyes to just how much there is for me to learn and do to become the experienced outdoorsman I want to be. Once I got myself into the role It really made me think...what if? What if I was really in this situation? I will leave it for you, the viewer to decide...was this scenario just all in his head? Was it the character's inner self he was battling while he was ON THE RUN? I hope you all enjoy this type of content.
