'The Caravan Killer' - in this episode we continue our adventures across the notorious Gibb River Road, also known as the 'Caravan Killer'! We stop by Imintji to have a bit of a look while the Hollier's grab some fuel, before ending up at Mt Barnett/Manning Gorge where we spend 3 nights. This was us our favourite gorge on the Gibb by far! We have to swim across the river, floating our gear over in a bucket before heading off on the 5km hike that takes us to the most incredible waterfall and swimming hole! The Gibb is INSANE!! In this episode we continue our adventures across the notorious Gibb River Road, also known as the 'Caravan Killer'! Bell Gorge (Dalmanyi) is the first gorge we discover on our Gibb adventure and it instantly became Chris's new favourite place! It's a short class 4 hike to the upper pools and a bit more of an adventurous climb down tot he lower pool where we spend a couple of hours making the most of having this unbelievable swimming hole all to ourselves! Well, aside from the fresh water crocodiles who call this place home. We saw enough bubbles floating up to know we weren't alone 🐊 😅 We spend 2 nights at Silent Grove, a beautifully serene campground a short drive from the gorge. Night one is spent at Lennard River Free Camp, where we base ourselves close to Tunnel Creek and I psyche myself up to swim/hike through deep, cold water in the pitch black knowing that plenty of crocs call this place home 🐊 😧 We get lost (of course) while searching for Aboriginal artwork, freak out in the dark (well, I do - Chris had the time of his life!) and basically have a great time doing something we have never done before! Hidden rock pools, epic off grid camping, tight tracks and a full campground where we score the last epic spot! Part 2 of our Dampier Peninsula adventure is underway! We show you around Pender Bay where we spend 7 magical days and uncover one of the best rock pools we have ever seen!! So many people miss this one, walking right past as it's pretty hard to find requiring a little hike around the beach at low tide and some idea of where to look as it's super hidden! We head south on the Dampier Peninsular aiming for James Price Point but end up at Quondong where we negotiate extremely tight and scratchy tracks, some pretty impressive u-turns with the Holliers ( @Campedia ) right behind us only to discover the whole campground is full as it's Friday and super close to Broome. But - we snag the best site in the whole area! Watch to find out how that eventuated ☺️ Quondong is awesome for surfing, rock pools on the beach, swimming and epic sunsets! 🐳 🔥Whales, bush fires and the most incredible landscape ever 😍 Welcome to the Dampier Peninsula! Join us as we leave Broome and head north. Our destination? Pender Bay Escape, a gorgeous camp that's notoriously hard to secure a spot in. The website always claims it's booked out, but thankfully we managed to secure seven nights. A bush fire burns, covering the area in a smoky haze which looks pretty amazing at sunset and even more incredible from our campsite as we watch it burn into the night from our campsite. The Hollier family ( @Campedia ), who join us a few days later, have a wild experience driving through the fire that had crossed our path. 'It almost melted my arm off' (quote from Donna 😅) We takes some time to explore Middle Lagoon where we catch up with some fellow travelers and go for a (pretty funny) swim, and Smithy's, two fantastic campgrounds not far from Pender Bay. 🤯 Cyclone devastation at Pardoo Roadhouse, a stunning free camp in the Pilbara & one of our favourite WA beach camps! Let's gooooo! Welcome to the wild wonders of the Pilbara, Western Australia! In this episode we take you to a stunning free camp – Doolena Gorge. Nestled along the riverside, it's the most beautiful and peaceful free camp you'll ever lay eyes on 😍 Lace up your hiking boots because we're exploring the breathtaking scenery before sitting around the campfire and watching a magnificent sunset. But it's not all serene landscapes – we'll also be sharing the heartbreaking aftermath of cyclone Ilsa at Pardoo Roadhouse & Tavern. Roofs missing, scattered debris, twisted metal and a sense of devastation that hits you in the gut. It's a somber moment witnessing the power of nature. On the road, we pull over to let a massive piece of mining machinery rumble past us on the highway. It's a jaw-dropping sight that reminds us of the incredible scale of industry in this rugged region. You won't believe the sheer size of this beast! Switching gears, we take you to one of our all-time favorite beach camps in WA – Eighty Mile Beach. It's a shell collector's paradise, with every step revealing more that you just want to keep forever!
