Free Camping

The Gibb is INSANE!! In this episode we continue our adventures across the notorious Gibb River Road, also known as the 'Caravan Killer'! Bell Gorge (Dalmanyi) is the first gorge we discover on our Gibb adventure and it instantly became Chris's new favourite place! It's a short class 4 hike to the upper pools and a bit more of an adventurous climb down tot he lower pool where we spend a couple of hours making the most of having this unbelievable swimming hole all to ourselves! Well, aside from the fresh water crocodiles who call this place home. We saw enough bubbles floating up to know we weren't alone 🐊 😅 We spend 2 nights at Silent Grove, a beautifully serene campground a short drive from the gorge. Hidden rock pools, epic off grid camping, tight tracks and a full campground where we score the last epic spot! Part 2 of our Dampier Peninsula adventure is underway! We show you around Pender Bay where we spend 7 magical days and uncover one of the best rock pools we have ever seen!! So many people miss this one, walking right past as it's pretty hard to find requiring a little hike around the beach at low tide and some idea of where to look as it's super hidden! We head south on the Dampier Peninsular aiming for James Price Point but end up at Quondong where we negotiate extremely tight and scratchy tracks, some pretty impressive u-turns with the Holliers ( @Campedia ) right behind us only to discover the whole campground is full as it's Friday and super close to Broome. But - we snag the best site in the whole area! Watch to find out how that eventuated ☺️ Quondong is awesome for surfing, rock pools on the beach, swimming and epic sunsets! 🤯 Cyclone devastation at Pardoo Roadhouse, a stunning free camp in the Pilbara & one of our favourite WA beach camps! Let's gooooo! Welcome to the wild wonders of the Pilbara, Western Australia! In this episode we take you to a stunning free camp – Doolena Gorge. Nestled along the riverside, it's the most beautiful and peaceful free camp you'll ever lay eyes on 😍 Lace up your hiking boots because we're exploring the breathtaking scenery before sitting around the campfire and watching a magnificent sunset. But it's not all serene landscapes – we'll also be sharing the heartbreaking aftermath of cyclone Ilsa at Pardoo Roadhouse & Tavern. Roofs missing, scattered debris, twisted metal and a sense of devastation that hits you in the gut. It's a somber moment witnessing the power of nature. On the road, we pull over to let a massive piece of mining machinery rumble past us on the highway. It's a jaw-dropping sight that reminds us of the incredible scale of industry in this rugged region. You won't believe the sheer size of this beast! Switching gears, we take you to one of our all-time favorite beach camps in WA – Eighty Mile Beach. It's a shell collector's paradise, with every step revealing more that you just want to keep forever! Lucky we chose the beach road home! We came across a very bogged Navara buried and covered in bushes and helped them out of their hole in the sand. This was an action packed end to an action packed day! We explored the spectacular Cape Le Grand National Park and had lunch on the number one beach in the world, Lucky Bay - where heaps of people were bogged! We also show you the incredible Wharton Beach, a low cost camp, - Condingup Sports Oval, close by and the overflow camping in Esperance. If you're after a quiet campground in Esperance, don't stay there! We had kids & cars everywhere during Little Athletics and the same again plus shuffling caravans and adults during the Poultry Auction the next morning! Oh nooooo ... we thought it was a great idea to park up on the beach - our very first beach camp in Western Australia!! Had the weather played nice it would have been! The winds picked up causing a super high tide so we had to get outta there quick smart and move to one of the camping spots up on the rocks where it felt like we were parked on top of Ayers Rock! Let’s see who used more fuel from Penong to the Nullabor Roadhouse! Deryck & Sue in their 79 towing their Vacationer, or us with our Chevy towing our Titanium! Then … we make it to Bubda cliffs 🙌🏼 DEATH ON BUNDA CLIFFS - That's what the others who were with us thought! One of the Holliers kids even jumped out of the van and ran when she thought it was going over the edge. 😆 Deryck & Sue, Tribz Travels, Campedia and us - we all enjoyed a stunning afternoon with a light breeze and then at midnight WHAMMO! The most insane winds hit with a vengeance. Everyone was up and moving to safer ground - further from the edge. The day was great - we left Penong and started our adventure across the Nullabor stopping at the Head of Bight, & the infamous Nullabor Roadhouse before parking up at the most spectacular campsite on the Nullabor - Bunda Cliffs.
