Proverbs 11 - Where there is no guidance, the people fall 2025
RVTAProv 11:14 Where there is no guidance, the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory. This strongly applies to teaching and learning Scripture. Too many people go with their own ideas instead of counseling with others to seek truth and guidance.15 views -

RVTA1 Cor 1:24-25 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Cor 1:30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, Psa 94:8-12 Pay heed, you senseless among the people; And when will you understand, stupid ones? 9He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see? 10He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke, Even He who teaches man knowledge? 11The LORD knows the thoughts of man, That they are a mere breath. 12Blessed is the man whom Thou dost chasten, O LORD, And dost teach out of Thy law;10 views -
Proverbs 6 & 7 - Haughty eyes are a reference to pride. 2025
RVTAProv 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: There are things that Elohim hates, even though many people erroneously think He is incapable of hate. He hates sin and He lists several specific things that are sinful or that promote and lead to sin. "Six things..., Yes, seven.." This is a form of Hebraic poetry. Prov 6:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, Haughty eyes are a reference to pride. Psalm 18:27 For Thou dost save an afflicted people; But haughty eyes Thou dost abase. Psalm 101:5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure. A lying tongue is an abomination to Elohim. Psalm 5:6 Thou dost destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit..7 views -
Proverbs 4 & 5 - Beginning of wisdom is to have a desire to acquire it; you get understanding. 2025
RVTAProv 4:7 "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. The beginning of wisdom is to have a desire to acquire it. With all your acquiring, you get understanding. The wisdom and understanding of the Father are only exemplified in those who do His commandments. Deut. 4:4-6 “But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you. 5“See, I have taught you statutes and judgments just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do thus in the land where you are entering to possess it. 6“So keep and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. Proverbs 3 - Trust in the heavenly Father; not on our own hearts. “The heart is deceitful 2025
RVTAProv 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. We are reminded in Jeremiah that we are to trust in Elohim and not on our own hearts. Jer 17:7-9 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. 8“For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit. 9“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? Elohim also tells us in Jeremiah not to boast of our ourselves, but to boast about knowing Him. Jer 9:23-24 Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.11 views -
Proverbs 2 - He stores up sound wisdom - He preserves the way of His godly ones - He does it. 2025
RVTAProv 2:7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, Prov 2:8 Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones. Prov 2:9 Then you will discern righteousness and justice And equity and every good course. Notice who does all the work here. It is Elohim that stores up wisdom for the upright and is a mighty shield for His people. He preserves the way for His godly ones. Psalm 23:3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Psalm 143:8-10 Let me hear Thy lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in Thee; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to Thee I lift up my soul. 9Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; I take refuge in Thee. 10Teach me to do Thy will, For Thou art my God; Let Thy good Spirit lead me on level ground. Through the wisdom He provides, then we will be able to discern righteousness, justice, equity, and every good course. Psalm 25:8-10 Good and upright is the LORD; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. 9He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. 10All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. Isa. 48:17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. Jer. 6:16 Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Matt. 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. 14“For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. Proverbs 1 –The “correct” teaching of wisdom and understanding; it’s so clear!
RVTAProv 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding, The Hebrew word for wisdom is hokmah. It can be defined as "the proper application of knowledge" or "the ability to discern between good and evil, right and wrong." Elohim tells us that wisdom (Heb. chokmah) is keeping His Torah. Deut 4:4-6 “But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you. 5“See, I have taught you statutes and judgments just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do thus in the land where you are entering to possess it. 6“So keep and do them, for that is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ In Scriptures keeping His Torah is tied together with fearing Elohim. Job 28:28 “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.’” Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. Psalm 119:98-100 Thy commandments make me wiser than my enemies, For they are ever mine. 99I have more insight than all my teachers, For Thy testimonies are my meditation. 100I understand more than the aged, Because I have observed Thy precepts. Jer 8:9 “The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have? Paul knew that wisdom that leads to salvation comes from Torah. 2 Tim. 3:14-17 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; 15and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Solomon was qualified to write on the subject of wisdom because he was granted wisdom by Elohim. 1 Kings 3:5-12 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, “Ask what you wish me to give you.” 6Then Solomon said, “Thou hast shown great lovingkindness to Thy servant David my father, according as he walked before Thee in truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward Thee; and Thou hast reserved for him this great lovingkindness, that Thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7“And now, O LORD my God, Thou hast made Thy servant king in place of my father David, yet I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8“And Thy servant is in the midst of Thy people which Thou hast chosen, a great people who cannot be numbered or counted for multitude. 9“So give Thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Thine?” 10And it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. 11And God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice, 12behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you. River Valley Torah Assembly16 views
