John Lennon ) Imagine ) 1971
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Imagine is the 2nd solo studio album by English musician John Lennon, released on 9 September 1971 by Apple Records. The album's elaborate sound contrasts the basic, small-group arrangements of his 1st album, while the opening title track is widely considered to be his signature song. Lennon recorded the album from early to mid-1971 at his Ascot Sound Studios, EMI Recording Studios and the Record Plant in New York City, with supporting musicians that included his ex-Beatles bandmate George Harrison. Its lyrics reflect peace, love, politics, Lennon's experience with primal scream therapy, and, following a period of high personal tensions, an attack on his former writing partner Paul McCartney in "How Do You Sleep?" Imagine was a critical and commercial success, peaking at number 1 on both the UK Albums Chart and US Billboard 200. Along with John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, it is considered one of Lennon's finest solo albums. 🔘 Side 1: Imagine Crippled Inside Jealous Guy It's So Hard I Don't Want to Be a Soldier 🔘 Side 2: Gimme Some Truth Oh My Love How Do You Sleep? John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band ) Some Time in New York City ) 1972
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Some Time in New York City is a part-studio, part-live double album by John Lennon and Yoko Ono as Plastic Ono Band that included backing by the American rock band Elephant's Memory. Released in June 1972 in the US and in September 1972 in the UK on Apple Records, it is Lennon's 6th album to be released under his own name, and his 4th with Ono. The album's agitprop lyrics are politically charged compared to its predecessors, addressing political and social issues and topics such as sexism, incarceration, colonialism, and racism. The album received abysmal reviews, such as: "The songs are awful. The tunes are shallow and derivative and the words little more than sloppy nursery-rhymes that patronise the issues and individuals they seek to exalt. Only a monomaniacal smugness could allow the Lennons to think that this witless doggerel wouldn't insult the intelligence and feelings of any audience." 🔘 Side 1: Woman Is the Nigger of the World Sisters, O Sisters Attica State Born in a Prison New York City 🔘 Side 2: Sunday Bloody Sunday The Luck of the Irish John Sinclair Angela We're All Water 🔘 Side 3: Cold Turkey Don't Worry Kyoko 🔘 Side 4: Well (Baby Please Don't Go) Jamrag Scumbag Aü301 views -

John Lennon ) Rock 'n' Roll ) 1975
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Rock 'n' Roll is the 6th solo studio album by John Lennon. Released in February 1975, it is an album of late 1950s and early 1960s songs as covered by Lennon. Recording the album was problematic and spanned an entire year: Phil Spector produced sessions in October 1973 at A&M Studios, and Lennon produced sessions in October 1974 at the Record Plant (East). Lennon was being sued by Morris Levy over copyright infringement of one line in his Beatles song "Come Together". As part of an agreement, Lennon had to include three Levy-owned songs on Rock 'n' Roll. Spector disappeared with the session recordings and was subsequently involved in a motor accident, leaving the album's tracks unrecoverable until the beginning of the Walls and Bridges sessions. With Walls and Bridges coming out first, featuring one Levy-owned song, Levy sued Lennon expecting to see Lennon's Rock 'n' Roll album. The cover photo was taken by Jürgen Vollmer during the Beatles' stay in Hamburg. It was to be Lennon's last solo album; with no recording contract obligation, he was on hiatus from the music business to raise his son Sean. 🔘 Side 1: Be-Bop-a-Lula Stand By Me Medley: Rip It Up/Ready Teddy You Can't Catch Me Ain't That a Shame Do You Want to Dance Sweet Little Sixteen 🔘 Side 2: Slippin' and Slidin' Peggy Sue Medley: Bring It On Home to Me/Send Me Some Lovin' Bony Moronie Ya Ya Just Because283 views -
John Lennon & Yoko Ono ) Double Fantasy ) 1980
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Double Fantasy is the 5th studio album by John Lennon & Yoko Ono, and the final one to feature Lennon before his death. Released in November 1980 on Geffen Records, the album marked Lennon's return to recording music full-time, following his 5-year hiatus to raise his son Sean. Recording sessions took place at the Hit Factory in New York City between August and October 1980. The final album features songs from both Lennon and Ono, largely alternating between the two in its track listing. Other tracks recorded by Lennon from the sessions were compiled by Ono for release on Milk and Honey in 1984. Upon its release, the album stalled on music charts and received largely negative reviews from music critics, with many focusing on the album's idealisation of Lennon and Ono's marriage. However, following Lennon's murder 3 weeks after its release, it became a worldwide commercial success and it has been viewed favourably, with Lennon's songs in particular garnering praise as some of his finest. 🔘 Side 1: (Just Like) Starting Over Kiss Kiss Kiss Cleanup Time Give Me Something I'm Losing You I'm Moving On Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) 🔘 Side 2: Watching the Wheels Yes, I'm Your Angel[A] Woman Beautiful Boys Dear Yoko Every Man Has a Woman Who Loves Him Hard Times Are Over534 views 2 comments -
