Local Church

What We Do We are a training site, not a counseling site. Because we're in cyberspace, we cannot provide counselees what they need by "being there," looking at them, and assessing the situation up close and personally. We can provide the local church with a well-trained man and woman who can be on-site to meet the training and counseling needs of that local body. We are an equipping training ministry. Imagine having a supplemental training ministry that provides free resources to local churches. That's what we do! We have a sanctification center in cyberspace, accessible to anyone with access to the Internet. Your Church Counselor Additionally, we train church members to come alongside their leaders, meeting the counseling needs of the church. Even after they graduate from our program, we continue to consult with them as they serve their local churches. Do you have someone who has the gifting necessary to become a director of counseling at your church? Would you be willing to pay for them to go through our program? This person would provide ongoing equipping to the local church and meet the counseling needs. They would relieve the church leaders to shepherd the entire body as they meet the acute counseling needs of a few folks. Let Us Help You Pastors cannot immerse themselves in long-term counseling situations because of the expansive needs of the whole church, but if they had one or two persons who could focus on micro-situations, it would release them to pastor the body. Rarely have I ever counseled an individual who is rightly related to his/her local church. With rare exceptions, most of the people I have had the privilege of serving have some sort of relational breakdown in the context of their local church. It is very difficult to be properly connected to the body and have ongoing, unconquerable problems or issues. It's common for folks to think they are a bother to someone. This kind of thinking is problematic in the body of Christ. I'm not sure how to change that mindset with so many Christians. People will say, "I don't want to be a bother" to me, too. They know I'm busy, and they don't want to "bother" me. I get it. Though I appreciate the show of respectful kindness toward me and whatever may be happening in my life, that perspective is counter-productive to the Christian life, as well as unbiblical. Each local church has a unique personality that reflects its leadership. In context, the word church refers to those who have been attending for a while and are actively participating in the environments and equipping ministries that the leadership provides. Nominal Christians or inconsistent attendees are not part of the demographic in view here. Because of the leaders’ influence, assessing the church’s model for ministry is vital because no two leaders are the same, making no two churches the same. The local church is our most crucial sanctification context outside our homes, making finding the right kind of church a critical matter for all serious-minded Christians. The most important question when looking for a local church concerns the gospel—the main thing forever and ever. Amen. Nothing is more essential in any local church than the good news of the gospel, who is Christ. While many things matter when looking for a church, nothing matters more. So, lets suppose we exalt Christ in our minds and seek to imitate Him in all we do. If so, it will create a presuppositional window to interpret our theology, worship, ministries, and everything else in church life is congruent with the gospel we exalt. To follow Christ well implies that we will disregard anything that will impede or hinder our walk with Him. Thus, with Christ established as the preeminent one, we have the proper filter to discern the other vital matters of the church.
