The Saturn-Jupiter Conjunction of 7 BC and the Star of Bethlehem
Temple of the Living FireIn the Year 7 BC, a triple conjunction took place between the planets Saturn and Jupiter in the sign of Pisces. Many Hermeticists believe this was indeed the actual star the Magi saw as indicating a miraculous birth. Before I get into that, let me present the general view of these two planets, that from a Hermetic perspective forms one of the most interesting set of polarities. The symbol for Saturn is the cross of manifestation depicted above the crescent. Indicating to us the moon or personality held down by the cross. The planet is associated with the lords of Karma, the reaping of what we have sown in that respect, and it is akin to the first law of manifestation, limitation. Hence it’s also qualitatively, or archetypally, associated with the Sefirah Binah, the Archangel Zafkiel, and the Guardian of the Threshold. The Symbol of Jupiter conversely shows us the Crescent depicted above the cross. Suggesting a relationship to the superconscious Self, which is not limited and confined because it is linked to the divine mind. It signifies divine authority coming through obedience to the Spirit. In more mundane terms, looking at birth charts, where Saturn rests at the time of birth, there is karmic debt and/or, relentless evolutionary pressure from higher planes working on the personality, tempering it, refining it, all to the end of revealing the diamond inside the coal. The Story of Job demonstrates to us the work of Saturn, as tester, as a force that creates trials in human spiritual development. According to Edgar Cayce, Saturn is also the afterlife realm referred to as Purgatory by the Catholic Church, of which Edgar Cayce said souls may enter and God loves those who would begin again. The essence of the experience is also portrayed in the weighing of the soul or heart against a feather in the ancient Egyptian understanding. Saturn is intimately related, in a qualitative sense, to the Angel Zafkiel, the personification or manifestation of Binah in Olam Briah. This Holy Angel can manifest as a Dark Angel of Judgement, or an Angel of Mercy according to the consciousness of the spiritual aspirant who has succeeded in making contact with this force-intelligence. As the function of Zafkiel is awakening what is unconscious, cosmic memory, granting knowledge of karmic purpose, concealing or revealing knowledge of past lives, but ultimately, it confronts one with the totality of who one actually is. If one is completely identified with the mental image they have of themselves, carrying much negativity in the shadow, anger, hatred, greed, fear, then such an experience becomes a trial by fire. The Angel Zafkiel and the Sphere of Binah, rule over Teshuva, a Hebrew word conveying the idea of returning and repentance both at once. And this is the key to Tikkun or cosmic mending and the realization of Olam Ha-bah, or the future perfected world. Saturn is an especially interesting planet as it is associated with these very many heavy, weighty, limiting themes, yet physically it is the least dense planet in the solar system. So much so that if there was an ocean big enough, it would float on its waters. I point this out to suggest something of its dual or paradoxical nature, and that is to say, from a personality perspective the effects of Saturn in our lives may bring trials and difficulty, yet from a higher perspective its motive is love, and the realization of one's essential nature, and it leads us slowly but surely to true freedom. As it is through the sphere of Binah that true and sincere repentance and renunciation can lead to Liberation from endless cycles of death and Rebirth. Jupiter, indicates karmic credit in contrast to Saturn's karmic debt, and suggests areas in which we have been more true to our divine nature in previous incarnations. And in this life have relative freedom and grace acting through our lives. As an example, a person with Jupiter in the second or eighth house, may well get unexpected financial gains, be seemingly lucky, and to others always at the right place or right time, or perhaps seem to have good instincts, but this is not luck, this is due to their own charity and generosity in previous lives, a quality that lives on in them as a virtue. Saturn in these same houses can create loss, and lessons in attachment to wealth. Or success but only after great effort and discipline, depending on many factors. Now, returning to the triple conjunction of 7 BC. This conjunction is the union of the two planets, in their synodic cycle. A unification and synthesis of the extreme polarities they represent, occurring in Pisces, and very much suggesting a great revelation, a great incarnation, a karmic incarnation, and perhaps the birth of a Piscean Avatar... ____________ #astrology #saturn #jupiter #conjunction #starofbethlehem #jesus #christ #mysticchristianity #hermeticism #hermeticastrology #cabbala #isaacluria #carljung #edgarcayce62 views 2 comments -
Astrology Report: Four Converging Planetary Cycles, the Election, and the Future of America
Temple of the Living FireThis is a bonus episode. From time to time we will be presenting astrological forecasts. Today we would like to explore the thoughts of Magus Incognito on the astrology of the United States, current planetary cycles, and the upcoming election. ---------- MAGUS INCOGNITO speaks: Dear Unknown friend, the preceding came to mind today as I meditated upon the current transits of the outer planets, which play such a profound role in influencing the waxing and waning, the movement from stability to entropy, order to chaos, anabolic to catabolic, or the ebb and flow, of collective changes in humanity, as its conscious aspect is affected by its unconscious aspect. It is with this understanding that we can embark on a journey, with an aim of gaining insight into our current times, and hopefully attaining a broader, deeper and more holistic perspective. It is in this spirit that I will examine the upcoming election and the astrological influences affecting it. While I have made a thorough examination of the charts of the respective candidates as well, it is the national chart I will focus on for the moment as I've found this more telling. There is a need to go into a little background, as the current planetary cycles are repeats of cycles that have shown themselves in the past to be extremely dynamic, in their effect on collective destiny of the United States and the world. There are in fact four outer planetary cycles currently of great importance, these would be the cycles of Pluto, Neptune, Uranus and Chiron. All of these celestial bodies have returned to, or are nearing a return to, places they had occupied during the most dramatic and perhaps cathartic periods in American history. I will go into far greater study of these cycles after the election, but for today I would like to address these cycles only in overview. Pluto is the first I would like to consider. This planet being the prime driver of evolutionary impulses and impetus and hence possibly the most important. Pluto is positioned at 27 degrees of Capricorn in the American natal chart, using a birthday of July Fourth 1776. As the revolutionary period unfolded Pluto entered into Aquarius, and this was significant in light of the American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Enlightenment, and it ultimately meant the end of Monarchical forms of government. And the beginning of new concepts for governance, democracy, socialism, communism, republicanism, as well as ideals like Liberty, freedom, universal equality for every man. These can all be considered archetypally, as Aquarian systems of thought. Also contributing to this emancipatory zeitgeist of the late eighteenth century was the planet Uranus, which thanks to the invention of the telescope was discovered during this period. Uranus was positioned at 8 degrees of Gemini at the time of the Declaration of Independence, and had hence been in a trine relationship to Pluto, much like today. We should also take note of the fact that at that time, Pluto occupied the sign that Uranus has rulership over, Aquarius. This powerful geometric relationship between these two celestial bodies created a spirit of revolution in thought, as already mentioned. And as Uranus approached Leo and entered into opposition with Pluto we saw an augmentation of the spirit of rebellion, sudden upheaval, chaos, a desire for sexual liberation, and even violence... ...As for the upcoming election, I feel the astrological factors are as even as the polls. This was not the case when Biden was running. But many elements of the current transits both help and hinder each of the two candidates in similar ways. Trump is a Gemini and Harris has Gemini on her ascendant, is one such example. Jupiter is currently a great aid to both. However, I feel the election will see Uranus and Chiron as the greater influences. And these planets are currently affecting two houses in the American Natal chart. The fourth house which in the context of a nation's chart concerns borders and cultural identity, has Chiron transiting through it, and the sixth house, which concerns the working class and health issues, is occupied by Uranus. There is a lot that suggests social-political perspectives are shifting, realigning, and recapitulating. Now, Chiron, as it transits through Aries, has a special relationship to the founding of the nation, and the nation has been experiencing its fourth Chiron return since 1776. This planet has been in Aries recently, and this transit has a strong influence on Generation X, or the thirteenth generation, a generation which has shifted a bit politically, away from the Democratic Party. ---------- Visit www.templeofthelivingfire.com ---------- #election2024 #astrologicalprediction #genx #donaldtrump #kamalaharris #pluto #neptune #uranus #chiron #astrology #electionprediction #planetarycycles #americanrevolution #frenchrevolution #hermeticism #templeofthelivingfire #philosophersofthelivingfire155 views 2 comments
