It was later ported to cartridge format and published by Acclaim for the Nintendo Entertainment System. For its time, the game was technically advanced; the game's three-dimensional scrolling effect is very similar to the linescroll effects used by Pole Position and many racing games of the day as well as the forward-scrolling effect of Sega's 1985 third-person rail shooter Space Harrier. 3-D WorldRunner was an early forward-scrolling pseudo-3D third-person platform-action game where players were free to move in any forward-scrolling direction and had to leap over obstacles and chasms. It was also notable for being one of the first stereoscopic 3-D games. WorldRunner was designed by Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nasir Gebelli, with music composed by Nobuo Uematsu. All were later core members of the team behind the Final Fantasy role-playing video game series. (Source - Wikipedia)4 views -

Alien vs Predator (Atari Jaguar - 1994) [NA Version of "エイリアンVSプレデター"]
GAMING WITH THE DESERTPUNK!Old-School Console Theater Alien vs Predator [エイリアンVSプレデター] Atari Jaguar Action/First-Person Shooter 1994 Rebellion Developments, Ltd./Atari Corporation NA Version of "エイリアンVSプレデター" Normal Difficulty Mode * RELATED VIDEO PLAYLISTS: -The Attract Mode Project: https://rumble.com/playlists/GWQng0_fMzs -Old-School Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/NZeHms3PVHc -Standard Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/UEuK9iop3Fc -Hardcore Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/KdL3xxsx0lc * GAME INFORMATION: Alien vs Predator is a 1994 first-person shooter developed by Rebellion Developments and published by Atari Corporation for the Atari Jaguar. It was also distributed in Japan by Mumin Corporation, where it became a pack-in game for the console. It is the first entry in the Alien vs. Predator franchise developed by Rebellion. Taking place in a simulation depicting the fall of the Golgotha training base camp, the game offers three playable scenarios: Alien, Predator, or a human of the Colonial Marines. The player is presented with a series of interconnected sublevels and ships to progress through. Each character has different objectives, abilities, weapons, and disadvantages. Alien vs Predator originally began as a corridor-based shooter for Atari Lynx that was under development by Images Software, featuring references to Dark Horse Comics' Aliens vs. Predator comic book series, but was cancelled as Atari focused its resources on the Jaguar. Production was later restarted, initially intended to be a port of the beat'em up game of the same name developed by Jorudan for SNES, but was retooled into a first-person shooter when Atari submitted the proposal to 20th Century Fox and Activision, commissioning Rebellion to work on the game. It was produced by James Hampton, being one of his first projects when starting work for Atari after departing Lucasfilm Games. Alien vs Predator garnered generally favorable reception from critics, earned several awards from gaming publications and sold 52,223 copies by 1995, becoming the system's killer app. Atari had opened discussions with Beyond Games about their interest in developing a sequel for the Atari Jaguar CD, but dropped out of these negotiations shortly before the Jaguar was officially discontinued. A Jaguar CD conversion was also in the planning phase but never moved forward, though ideas provided by Atari to 20th Century Fox for this unreleased version were later used in Aliens Versus Predator (1999). Retrospective commentary has been equally favorable and it is cited as one of the best games for the platform. (Source - Wikipedia)18 views -
Asteroids [Unreleased Prototype] (Atari 5200 - 1982) [NA Only]
GAMING WITH THE DESERTPUNK!Old-School Computer Theater Asteroids [小惑星] Atari 5200 Action/Shooter 1982 Atari, Inc./Atari Corporation NA Only Normal Difficulty Mode [Unreleased Prototype] * RELATED VIDEO PLAYLISTS: -The Attract Mode Project: https://rumble.com/playlists/GWQng0_fMzs -Old-School Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/NZeHms3PVHc -Standard Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/UEuK9iop3Fc -Hardcore Console Theater: https://rumble.com/playlists/KdL3xxsx0lc * GAME INFORMATION: Asteroids is a space-themed multidirectional shooter arcade video game designed by Lyle Rains and Ed Logg released in November 1979 by Atari, Inc. The player controls a single spaceship in an asteroid field which is periodically traversed by flying saucers. The object of the game is to shoot and destroy the asteroids and saucers, while not colliding with either, or being hit by the saucers' counter-fire. The game becomes harder as the number of asteroids increases. Asteroids was conceived during a meeting between Logg and Rains, who decided to use hardware developed by Wendi Allen (then known as Howard Delman) previously used for Lunar Lander. Asteroids was based on an unfinished game titled Cosmos; its physics model, control scheme, and gameplay elements were derived from Spacewar!, Computer Space, and Space Invaders and refined through trial and error. The game is rendered on a vector display in a two-dimensional view that wraps around both screen axes. Asteroids was one of the first major hits of the golden age of arcade games; the game sold 47,840 upright cabinets and 8,725 cocktail cabinets and proved both popular with players and influential with developers. In the 1980s it was ported to Atari's home systems, and the Atari VCS version sold over three million copies. The game was widely imitated, and it directly influenced Defender, Gravitar, and many other video games. Asteroids was released for the Atari VCS (later renamed Atari 2600) and Atari 8-bit computers in 1981. Programmers Brad Stewart and Bob Smith were unable to fit the Atari VCS port into a 4 KB cartridge. It became the first game for the console to use bank switching, a technique that increases ROM size from 4 KB to 8 KB. A port for the Atari 5200, identical to the Atari 8-bit computer version, was in development in 1982, but was not published. An Atari 7800 version was published in 1986 with the official launch of the console. It includes cooperative play; the asteroids have colorful textures and the "heartbeat" sound effect remains intact. (Source - Wikipedia)17 views
