200 - Les Feldick Bible Study Lesson 2 - Part 4 - Book 17 - Explanation of Acts 2:38 - Part 2
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog RadioPeter is speaking to Jew only (with an occasional proselyte). There is no Gentile ground here. God doesn't put Gentiles in this group and neither should we. It's a Jewish feast day, a Jewish crowd, a Jewish speaker, and a Jewish message. And now verse 36: Peter is accusing these Jews of killing Christ their Messiah. In Chapter 16, Paul has begun his missionary journey throughout western Turkey. Earlier in this chapter the Holy Spirit directed him over into Greece. The Roman authority would have killed him if prisoners had escaped. Why did this pagan Gentile jailer pick Paul and Silas out of all his prisoners? Somehow, God let him know that here was the answer to his dilemma. Peter, preaching in Acts Chapter 2, is dealing with the Covenant Nation of Israel. Look at Peter's answer. Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, `Repent, and be baptized (the next two words are crucial) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost,'" Peter also tells them this in Acts 3:26. Look at the message. Peter says, "Repent and be baptized." Who began that message? John was the herald of The King, and his message was, "Repent and be baptized." Now compare this with Paul's answer to the Gentile in Acts Chapter 16. Paul is not talking to the Nation of Israel, he's talking to a Gentile. And when this Gentile asks what he must do to be saved, what does Paul tell him? Acts 16:31 "And they (Paul and Silas) said, `Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.'" Does it say Repent and be baptized? God has now turned to the Gentiles through the Apostle Paul, without Israel. The answer is simple: "Only Believe on The Lord Jesus Christ." Believe the Gospel. You search Paul's letters from Romans through Hebrews (and Hebrews is more Jewish than the rest and there is a reason for that), and show me one place where Paul teaches repentance and baptism for Salvation. Paul doesn't teach it. Paul's message is a different economy and you can't mix them. To the Gentile it is believe the Gospel. Read verse 38 again: Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, `Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,...'" The whole Nation of Israel had to repent and be baptized. Winning the whole world has never been implied with Paul. In Acts 15, when even James had to agree that God is using Paul to go to the Gentiles, what was the expression that James used? Calling out a people for His name. "...and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost," What was the prerequisite in this verse for receiving the Holy Spirit? Repentance and baptism. "...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Not a word. In Acts Chapter 10, we have Peter at the house of Cornelius, a Gentile. Not a Gentile has been saved. Back in Acts 2, the Jews had to repent and be baptized, then they could receive the Holy Spirit. "While Peter yet spake (he hadn't come to the end of his message) these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. " Ten is Gentile and Two is still Jew. The moment we believe for our Salvation the Gospel of Grace, that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, the Holy Spirit baptizes us and we are saved. Don't put the message that Peter preached and the message that Paul preached in a blender and mix it all up and expect to understand it. I don't do that, the Holy Spirit does that when you search the Scriptures. It is so plain if you will just separate the Jewish program from the Gentile. It's the same God. God hasn't changed but His program has. Peter hasn't been told about this yet, Peter is still on Covenant ground. So he is still proclaiming a repentance and baptism, and then the Holy Spirit. Let's look in Ephesians Chapter 1. Ephesians is one of Paul's later epistles. Ephesians 1:12,13 It doesn't say repented and baptized, but rather first trusted in Christ. "In whom ye also trusted, after (notice the progression) that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation (I Corinthians 15:1-4): in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. " The moment we believe the Gospel the Holy Spirit comes in, and becomes God's brand upon us, He becomes the very power of God within us, and we are not under Law but rather Grace. Grace is never license. We are now led and guided by the Holy Spirit of God. A lot of people who are church members have never experienced true Salvation. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. 199 - Les Feldick Bible Study Lesson 2 - Part 3 - Book 17 - Explanation of Acts 2:38
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog Radio"Him (Jesus), being delivered by the determinate counsel (that word counsel is spelled with an "se" so it denotes a meeting of minds? determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,..." Well Peter has just accused Israel of killing their Messiah. But was God taken by surprise? That also was in the predeterminate counsel of God. The other word I like to point out is His foreknowledge. Come to I Peter Chapter 1: I Peter 1:1,2a "PETER an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers (always realize to whom a particular Scripture is written. Peter here is basically writing to Jews out in the dispersion) scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect (believing Jews) according to the foreknowledge of God the Father,..." God in His foreknowledge knew what everyone who has ever lived or will live, would do with His offer of Salvation. Yes, God knew in His foreknowledge which of these Jews would be believers that Peter is writing to. So Peter tells them that they didn't take God by surprise when they crucified Him, He knew they would. "Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:" And I'm glad we don't have to sit under that accusation Sunday after Sunday, hearing someone tell us that we killed The Messiah. But here Peter is accusing these Jews that they killed Him. Verse 24: Peter is absolutely going to confirm His death, burial, and Resurrection. Now verse 25: David here is quoting Christ you might say. So Peter quotes the Psalms in verse 27: Now Peter comes back to his own first person speaking and he says: A King. And Peter is driving home the point that their King that they crucified and killed can still be their King, since God has raised Him from the dead. "He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ (David wasn't speaking concerning himself, he was speaking concerning Christ. That death and hell couldn't hold Him), that his (Christ) soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption." Why didn't Mary recognize Jesus on that early Resurrection morning? "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses." Remember if there is one proof of Resurrection that stands out above all others, it is Peter himself. Peter, you see at the night of the arrest and conviction, was fearful for his life. The proof of Resurrection! We should have no fear of death, because death is going to be so temporary, because of Resurrection power. Now verse 33, and Peter is referring to Christ. Acts 2:33 Again to prove that God was in all of this. "For David is not ascended into the heavens (the Psalms were referring to Christ rather than David); but he saith himself, `The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,'" A time word. Verse 36: Israel has had The Messiah for three years, performing signs and miracles, they crucified Him, God raised Him from the dead, and sent the Holy Spirit, and everything is falling into place) let all the house of Israel..." Peter is speaking to Jews on Covenant grounds. It's the fulfilling of the Covenant which God made with Abraham. According to Peter, the Crucifixion, Resurrection, ascension and coming of the Holy Spirit was prophesied. Look at verse 25: "Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant (only the Nation of Israel. Jeremiah 30 tells us it's the time of Jacob's trouble) which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, `And in thy seed (through the Nation of Israel) shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.'" So Peter is on Covenant ground. He's still on the basis that everything that has been since Abraham, that is: the Nation of Israel was to receive the Redeemer, The Messiah, The King and the Kingdom, and it would be through Israel that God would gather the Gentiles. I never like to leave people with the idea that God had cast off the Gentiles. Even right here God has never said a word to anybody that He's setting the Covenant promises aside for awhile. Search the Scriptures, but be sure you understand that the Scripture is putting Salvation on His death, burial, and Resurrection. Remember, there is never any reason to force anything into Scripture. So here Peter is still on Covenant ground. Now we have to compare Scripture with Scripture. We just saw Peter accusing the Nation of Israel of killing their Messiah, and now look what Paul tells us here in the Church Age. "Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins,..." It's as different as day from night with Peter's message. Peter's sermon just doesn't fit Paul's doctrine at all. God hadn't revealed Paul's message yet. It's still a secret kept in the mind of God. Remember Peter is addressing this great crowd of Jews on Covenant ground.40 views -

518 - Les Feldick; Tithing was Nailed to the Cross
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog Radio2 Thessalonians 2:14 - 3:18 Once you get a taste for the Word and understand how thrilling it is to compare Scripture with Scripture, the Book just comes alive. That’s what we like to hear—that they’re getting into the Book and seeing what the Word of God really says. If you will come back with us to II Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 16 where Paul writes: “Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,” Now there again is a good indication that God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit—even though He’s not specifically mentioned—that is the triune Godhead as Paul calls it. Again, I hope that no one will ever misunderstand the Grace of God, the unmerited favor. God didn’t have to do anything for us, but He did because of His Grace. Do you know what God could have done? It wasn’t Grace as Paul lays it out. But, nevertheless, as an attribute of God, it was His Grace that didn’t give up on fallen man. Didn’t God have every reason in the world to give up on the Nation? Can you imagine Israel offering their little children to the fire god Moloch and casting them alive into that white-hot idol’s arms? Israel! Not some pagan nation. Well, what’s the other word for mercy? Grace! Grace! That unmerited favor of God. So verse 17 then, with this understanding of the Grace of God. “Comfort your hearts,…” Knowing that you can never measure up? That’s a life of misery. But I don’t have to worry if I measure up. The Grace of God has totally taken care of your complete spiritual need by your faith in that finished work of the cross. Verse 17: II Thessalonians 2:17 good word and work.” Again, as we saw a program or two back, after salvation what does God expect? A life of service. A life of good works. Now let’s go into chapter 3. Now verse 2: “And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men:…” We’ve got to be reminded of this from time-to-time. So here Paul is defending his apostleship. II Corinthians 11:22 Now verse 23: Underline that word more. 24. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.” Do you realize that most healthy, strong men could not live through the thirty-nine stripes? II Corinthians 11:25-27 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; 27. What would the average man have done? It wasn’t that God didn’t hear his plea. What did God tell Paul back there in II Corinthians chapter 12 when he asked that the thorn in the flesh be removed? Our Lord said, “My Grace is sufficient for thee.” Now the next part of the verse: II Thessalonians 3:2b “…for all men have not faith.” What’s Paul saying? So most of the people that Paul dealt with were unbelievers. They were men who had no faith and had no concern about what God said.462 views 2 comments -
32 - Les Feldick Bible Study Lesson 2 - Part 4 - Book 3 - Babel, "False Gods": Genesis 9-12
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog RadioBecause you see, as they instituted pagan worship, in consort with the Tower of Babel, the first thing Semiramis introduced, as I mentioned last time, was the idea that her son Tamar was a son of god. The female goddess. Now I’m not telling people throw away their Christmas tree. I think Adam was created and brought on the scene April 1st. God stipulated to the nation of Israel that April is to be the first month of the year to them. And so everything in Israel’s calendar back in Biblical times began with April 1st. We’re here in Genesis chapter 11 and verse 9 is where we closed last week that the place was called Babel because it was a place of confusion. Genesis 11:9b Genesis 11:22a Genesis 11:24 Genesis 11:26 "And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram,…" And we know from Scripture that Abram’s name was changed by God to Abraham. So if you can get these names straight, that Nahor was the father of Terah, Terah was the father of Abraham, as well as his brother Haran. Turn all the way to the last chapter, which is chapter 24. Joshua chapter 24 and just drop right in to verse 1 and 2. Joshua 24:1-2a "And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and their judges, and their officers; and they presented themselves before God. 2. And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers (or we would say your forefathers) dwelt on the other side of the (now the King James uses the word) flood…" "River." Joshua 24:2a Now the other side of the river is the east side. Joshua 24:2b "…Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river in old times, even Terah, the father of Abraham, the father of Nahor: (underline that last portion) and they served (what?) other gods." Idolaters! Now we’ve come about 200 years again from the Tower of Babel to this call of Abraham. Now let’s come back if you will to chapter 11. We’ve come 2000 years from Adam to Abraham and there’s 2000 years left from Abraham to the time of Christ. All right, verse 27 then, still in chapter 11 where it says: Genesis 11:27a "Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat (or was the father of) Abram,…" We’re going to call him Abram because the Bible does, but it’s the same man who will be called Abraham. Genesis 11:27b "Terah begat Abram, Nahor and Haran: (three sons) and Haran was the father of Lot." Genesis 11:28 "Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees." Genesis 11:29a "Abram and Nahor took them wives; the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai;…" 32. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran." What was Terah? Genesis 12:1 "Now the LORD had said (so chapter 12 verse 1 is taking us back to chapter 11, see?) to Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, and unto a land that I will show thee."64 views -
10 - Les Feldick Bible Study - Lesson 3 Part 2 Book 1 - The Lie - Genesis 2:8 – 3:8
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog RadioThe Lie! Genesis 2:8 – 3:8 Remember, that on the sixth day of creation, God created Adam. Always remember that Adam was perfect, and I want to emphasize that. Adam was perfect in every way! An ideal climate. Adam is brought into a beautiful created earth. In that area of the Euphrates River. Now let’s pick that up then, in chapter 2 verse 8. Genesis 2:8 "And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed." Did God give them a home? Then verse 9. Genesis 2:9 "And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, (Can you imagine how beautiful that place was?) and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil." How many particular trees? Well, the Tree of Life is one of them. The Tree of Life which, had Adam been able to partake of, he would have definitely been able to live forever. That was the idea of that tree. It would enhance eternal life. Verse 10. Of course, the Bible says in verse 5 of chapter 2 that God had caused it not to rain. If there was no rain, then naturally it didn’t snow, then where did the river get the water?" Genesis 2:11-13 Genesis 2:14 Because the Euphrates River goes right through Baghdad. Now verse 15. Genesis 2:15 Then verse 16. Genesis 2:16 "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:" Genesis 2:17 The whole idea of everything in God’s universe is that God wanted a creature that He could extend His love to and receive love in return. I pointed out in the husband and wife relationship, God expects and commands the husband to love the wife. Because how did God create the woman? Otherwise, he would have been a robot and God didn’t create men to be robots. So God chose the Tree of Good and Evil for that purpose. You can live forever, but of that one tree you shall not eat for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God made it emphatic. Now, I have often wondered, just how much understanding Adam and Eve had of that word "die". How in verse 21-25 God brings the man and woman together. Adam and Eve are living in the beautiful, beautiful part of a beautiful earth. Ideal environment. Ideal people. Adam and Eve are under perfect circumstances. Let’s read on chapter 3 verse 1. Genesis 3:1 2. And he (the serpent, used now of Satan – Lucifer) said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" So anyway the serpent now approaches the woman and he says "hath God said." Don’t doubt. How do they approach the Word of God? Believing? NO! Remember the verse in the Book of Hebrews chapter 6? impossible to please God." It is the only way of approach to God. Now verse 2. Genesis 3:2-3 "And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst (or the middle) of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die." The point made here is, did Eve fully understand what God said? You can’t blame God for keeping these two people unaware. They had a full understanding of what God expected of them. Yes, God said that we are not to touch it! Now verse 4. Genesis 3:4 Because what had God said? The father of all lies. "The lie." Verse 5. Genesis 3:5 "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Oh, she could be like God. If only they could be their own god. That appeals to the human mind. To be like god. Now, Satan presents it as you can be as god, knowing good and (what) evil. Now verse 6. Genesis 3:6 To be like god, see?) That had Adam been right there at the time that old Satan was dealing with Eve, I think Adam would have done something to keep her from eating of the fruit, but Satan caught Eve alone for a little while and deceived her. A tree to be desired to make one wise and she took thereof and ate. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Oh, if she ate, she could be like god.152 views 1 comment -
9 - Les Feldick Bible Study Lesson 3 - Part 1 - Book 1 - The Lie - Genesis 2:8 – 3:8
Jeff Hertzog / Jeff Hertzog RadioGenesis 2:8 – 3:8 Because, all prophecy is centered on Israel. Especially the Middle East. So, the only way that we can look at the whole Middle East dilemma is; where does Israel come in? Everyone of those nations have already established that they will not rest until Israel is totally destroyed or driven into the sea. How do you suppose that makes Israel feel? Even the world in general, when you watch the United Nations, whenever they come to any kind of a debate, it’s the whole world against Israel. So if you will, turn with me back to II Samuel chapter 7. Israel is there under the directive of a Sovereign God. Drop down to verse 14. II Samuel 7:14 Iniquity, we know that Israel has been guilty of that) I will chasten him with the rod of men, (in other words, God will use other nations to punish the nation of Israel) and with the stripes of the children of men:" Then verse 15. One of the important words in Scripture. That little three letter word "but"! Even though God will have to chasten the nation of Israel betimes, and even though Israel is going to be rebellious and anything but what God would like them to be. "But" God says: Then verse 16 shows that we are not just talking about King Solomon per se or King Saul but we are talking about the nation of Israel. Now, that is a promise that God has made and regardless of what Israel does God’s promises to stand. Turn to Jeremiah chapter 16. Jeremiah chapter 16 verse 14. Jeremiah 16:14-15 "Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt: 15. But, the LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers." Turn over a few pages to chapter 23 verse 7. Jeremiah 23:7-8 "Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8. But, the LORD liveth which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country. Just plain English. Right in our own time. Alright, another portion of Scripture, turn to Ezekiel chapter 37. The dry bones, from which the old Negro Spiritual derived those dry bones. Ezekiel 37:7 "So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone." Ezekiel 37:10 Very dry! Ezekiel 37:11a "Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel:..." See? Ezekiel 37:11b Israel has been out there in the Gentile Nations, dispersed, out of her homeland for thousands of years. Now read on, verse 12. Ezekiel 37:12 "Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; (whenever God speaks, we had better listen!) Russia, Europe, Poland, France, America. This is where the Jew is literally out of his homeland and he is in a grave so far as God is concerned, because Israel is not what God wants them to be unless they are in their promised land.) and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel." God says, I will bring you to the land of Israel.Verse 13. Ezekiel 37:13-14 Alright, let’s go to a New Testament verse, Matthew chapter 24. Matthew 24:32 I think you are all aware that the fig tree in Scripture is always symbolic of the nation of Israel, but now look at verse 33. Verse 34. So what He is really saying is that this "stock", this generation, or this breed or this nation of people, Israel, shall never pass off the scene until everything is fulfilled. God can never fulfill His overall program until He can come back and deal once again with the nation of Israel. So, whenever you hear a statement that God’s all through with Israel, don’t you believe it! Israel will be drawn in to it and it will be awful. Because Israel is going to be intact for the great invasion that the Bible talks about and that is when Russia with her satellite nations are still going to have to invade Israel and the Middle East. We are losing our land. Again, all I can say is study the Word. All prophecy is associated with that little nation of Israel. Read the Book.196 views 1 comment
