Sex Trafficking at the Super Bowl
226 Seconds DocumentarySex trafficking happens right here in the USA at the Superbowl and big sporting events. There’s a dark side to America’s biggest sporting event may also be America’s biggest sex-trafficking event. Out of town fans, drinking, and hotel parties in a new city create opportunities for exploitation. Now, whether the statistics bear out or whether this is just a narrative is an open question. But in Minnesota, where the big game was held in January 2018, authorities were not taking any chances. The state ramped up its campaign to prevent sex trafficking. Any event that draws thousands of men from all walks of life is expected to increase the demand for purchasing women for sex which furthers the exploitation of women for the sex industry. This is why the Super Bowl is an important time to focus on the restoration of our culture. As millions of men and women are glued to the television watching the game, advertisers and entertainers make unabashed attempts to push porn culture into the households of the nation through commercials and half- time shows that feature hyper-sexualized women. During the days leading up to the 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis, Hookers For Jesus, Magdalene Hope and Exodus Cry partnered with Action169 and the Minnesota Justice Awakening 52, a three day prayer, worship, and training conference. Strike Out Slavery: Deidre & Albert Pujols
226 Seconds DocumentaryIn 2017, Albert and Deidre Pujols created Strike Out Slavery after learning that children and adults are being forced into labor and sex trafficking, which enslaves 45.8 million people in 167 countries and it’s on the rise in the United States. They both knew that if Major League baseball teams, players and fans joined them, SOS could spread awareness about modern day slavery and help an international network of non-profit organizations rally against it. The inaugural Strike Out Slavery event was held at Angel Stadium in 2017, where more than 40,000 attendees learned about the issue. Strike Out Slavery is expanding as other players take a stand against slavery, enabling the message that “enough is enough” to reach legions of baseball fans across the nation, even the world. Albert Pujols stated “We are grateful for Major League Baseball teams and the players who use their influence to educate fans about modern-day slavery. Despite the pervasiveness of human trafficking worldwide, and a lack of awareness in undermining efforts to prevent its growth; We created Strike Out Slavery to educate baseball fans in a family friendly environment and encourage them to connect with a network of non-profit organizations to learn more about the issue of human trafficking and to be inspired to take action.” In addition, Deidre has also founded Open Gate International and has also connected with NGOs, ministries and government officials that are part of an enormous war and fighting battles against exploitation at every level. OGI is an organization that assists the vulnerable populations such as survivors of human trafficking to help them heal and reintigrate back into society by providing alternative training and employment. Once vocational needs have been identified, OGI develops programs with top-tier professionals, integrates life skills like mentoring and job placement assistance while providing all of it at no cost to students to set them on a course of sustainable life success. OGI Culinary Skills Program was their first vocational training program. Developed and run by globally renowned Chef Brent Southcombe, OGI students have already experienced the success of job placement; reintigration upon their graudation. MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SAVE A CHILD. Sex Trafficked Survivor is Offered Hope
226 Seconds Documentary1.2 MILLION CHILDREN ARE TRAFFICKED EVERY YEAR. Candice Shepard is a survivor of human trafficking and said she didn't think she was ever going to get out. Shepard, grew up in Ridgecrest but found herself in cities such as Reno, San Francisco and San Jose trafficked by an individual she says she trusted. When Shepard first met her pimp, she wasn't aware of what he did for a living. All she knew is he promised her a comfortable life with food and shelter and a supply of meth, the drug she had been addicted to since she was 11 years old; however, he tricked her. When they moved to Reno together, he made her pay him for everything he gave her and forced her into prostitution. And she stayed because she was fearful of never seeing her daughter again. Shephard constantly felt her pimp's eyes on her. She worked every night and was ordered not to come back with no less than $120 and all that money was taken from her by her trafficker. One day Shephard jumped out of a two-story San Jose hotel window. Carrying the few items she owned in a grocery bag, she ran barefoot for her life. Shepard had a chance to escape a life of abuse when her pimp left the hotel. Candice Shepard is ONLY ONE example of what is happening in United States every day. Candice was rescued by Pastor Doug Bennett, founder of Magdalene Hope, who rescues, restores, and reintegrates survivors from the sex trade in Bakersfield, California. Human Trafficking in the Air
226 Seconds DocumentaryDID YOU KNOW? THE US STATE DEPARTMENT'S STATISTICS SHOW THAT OVER 700,000 PEOPLE BECOME SUBJECTS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND CROSS INTERNATIONAL BORDERS EVERY YEAR. A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THOSE VICTIMS AND PERPETRATORS ENTER THE COUNTRY THROUGH MAJOR U.S. AIRPORTS, UNDER STRICT SECURITY, YET THEY GO UNNOTICED. Airline Ambassadors International is a non-profit organization affiliated with the United Nations and recognized by the US Congress. Nancy Rivard founded AAI to provide for orphans and vulnerable children in 1996 while working as a international flight attendant for American Airlines. She retired in 2013 to run Airline Ambassadors full time. AAI is the only non-profit organization leveraging connections with the airline industry to facilitate humanitarian efforts. Since correctly identifying human trafficking on four flights in 2009, AAI developed the first “industry specific” training on human trafficking awareness that has been provided at 50 airports, travel hotels which are major hubs of entry and exit for perpetrators and victims alike. In August 2009, an Airline Ambassador humanitarian team rescued an abandoned little girl in Cambodia. On that trip they learned about the dark reality of human trafficking. The following month on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic the team was on alert for anything unusual on flights out. Amazingly, that team correctly identified trafficking incidents on four airlines. Their first tip led to the bust of a pornography ring of 82 children. Airline Ambassadors International then worked closely with Customs Border Protection to develop an industry specific training consistent with the Department of Homeland Security. Airline Ambassadors International has provided training presentations to 6,000 front line personnel at airports across the United States and also internationally. Airline Ambassadors International now provides seminars with a team of three to four trainers including survivors of human trafficking. The training is tailored to airline and airport personnel, hotel employees, law enforcement and ground transportation. Airline Ambassadors is the first non-profit organization to have their curriculum adopted by the International Tourism Management Institute and has also received support from 12 members of Congress. Human trafficking is an appalling crime and an appalling violation of victims' rights. This is why the efforts of the international air transport sector in combating it are so important. This expansion of training for cabin crew and the wider travel industry is a crucial element in protecting the human rights of some of the most vulnerable people. MAKE A DIFFERENCE, SAVE A CHILD. Sex Trafficking in LA
226 Seconds DocumentaryHuman trafficking is among the world's fastest growing criminal enterprises and is estimated to be a $150 billion-a-year global industry. It is a form of modern day slavery that profits from the exploitation of our most vulnerable populations. One common misconception is that human trafficking requires movement across borders. In reality, it involves controlling a person or group through force, fraud, or coercion to exploit the victims for forced labor, sexual exploitation, or both. This can occur entirely within a single country or it can cross borders. Human trafficking strips victims of their freedom and violates our nation's promise that every person in the United States is guaranteed basic human rights. It is also a crime. Attorney General's Office is focused on combating the pervasive issue of human trafficking in California and has made it one of his top priorities. The International Labor Organization estimates that there are more than 24.9 million human trafficking victims worldwide at any time. This includes 16 million victims of labor exploitation, 4.8 million victims of sexual exploitation, and 4.1 million victims of state imposed forced labor. The victims of human trafficking are often young girls and women. Young girls and women are 57.6% of forced labor victims and 99.4% of sex trafficking victims. LAPD Human Trafficking Unit is responsible for the investigation and enforcement of state and federal crimes involving the sexual exploitation of human beings; reduce the vulnerability of children to acts of sexual criminal activity and strengthen the capabilities of federal, state and local law enforcement through training programs and investigative assistance. Together we can raise awareness of the non-profit organizations, crisis intervention teams, committed law enforcement and dedicated citizens fighting to eradicate global sex trafficking. Sex Trafficking in Orange County
226 Seconds DocumentarySex trafficking is the most profitable in Orange County, California. The Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force is fighting to prosecute traffickers and Johns; those who buy children and women. Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) takes a proactive approach to protecting women and minors from the cruel clutches of pimps who force them into lives of degradation, often by exploiting their status as runaways or their troubled pasts as victims of sexual abuse. Although formed in 2004, it wasn’t until 2014 that OCHTTF became a fully operational, multijurisdictional task force led by Sergeant Juan Reveles, a veteran Anaheim PD officer. OCHTTF is committed to combating all forms of human and sex trafficking through the rescue and long-term support of victims, prosecution of offenders, training of fellow law enforcement professionals, community awareness and effective public and private partnerships.
