Sweet ) Fox on the Run - Ballroom Blitz ) 1973 - 1975
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. "A definitive hard-rock bubblegum record" & "one of the last glitter classics," "Fox on the Run" is a 1975 song by the British glam rock band Sweet, first recorded in 1974. It was the first Sweet single written by the band, rather than producers Nicky Chinn & Mike Chapman, and was their 14th single overall. This is more pop-oriented and more familiar version of the song recorded and produced in 1975 and was included on the Capitol Records issue of Desolation Boulevard. The song's inclusion in the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 led to the song reaching number one on the iTunes Rock Chart in late 2016. "Fox" being slang for an attractive woman, the lyrics are apparently about one of the band's groupies. "The Ballroom Blitz" (often called "Ballroom Blitz") is a song written by Nicky Chinn & Mike Chapman. It was inspired by an incident on 27 January 1973 when the band were performing at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and were driven offstage by a bottling (when angry fans throw things onto the stage). Regardless of the damage and danger that the band took on during the bottling, it resulted in an all-time classic glam rock song. The song was recorded on 11-12 June 1973 at Audio International Studio, 18 Rodmarton Street, London, and released as a single in September 1973. The song appeared on the US and Canadian versions of Desolation Boulevard but never appeared on a Sweet album in the UK, other than hits compilations. Sweet ) Sweet Fanny Adams ) 1974
The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Sweet Fanny Adams is the second album by Sweet, their first of two released on 26 April 1974, and also their first album simply as Sweet. The album was a turning point and change in the band's sound, featuring more of a hard rock sound than their previous pop records. The album title is English (originally Royal Navy) slang originating from the murder of eight-year-old Fanny Adams in 1867 and means "nothing at all" as well as a similar euphemism "F.A." = "fuck all". Sweet Fanny Adams reached No. 27 on the UK Albums Chart in the year of its release by RCA Records in 1974 and No. 2 in the albums chart of West Germany. It was not released in the US, but five of its tracks appeared on the US version of the album Desolation Boulevard released in July 1975. Sweet: Brian Connolly – lead vocals (except as noted) Steve Priest – bass guitar, lead vocals (tracks 3, 7), backing vocals Andy Scott – guitars, lead vocals (track 8), backing vocals Mick Tucker – drums, backing vocals 🔘 Side A: Set Me Free Heartbreak Today No You Don't Rebel Rouser Peppermint Twist Teenage Rampage 🔘 Side B: Sweet F.A. The Fabulous Vinyl LifeYou are listening to the genuine Hi-Fi stereo sound transferred from the actual vinyl record in the best possible quality. Give Us a Wink is the 4th studio album by British rock band Sweet. It was the first album to be fully written and produced by the band members. Previously they had relied on material from the songwriting team of Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. The album was released by RCA Records in Europe and Australia and by Capitol Records in the United States, Canada and Japan. The album completed the group's move to the hard rock style that had always been the trademark of their self-penned B-sides. The album artwork was designed by the American artist Joe Petagno, who had already designed the previous Sweet album Strung Up (1975). The original LP cover was released with a die-cut cover that caused the eye to wink as the sleeve was removed and placed back into the cover.
