School is Out: Echoes in the Virtual Classroom
#blockadelab #chatgpt #virtualreality #schoolisout
Image created with Skybox at Blockade Labs https://skybox.blockadelabs.com
Echoes in the Virtual Classroom poem was written by ChatGPT.
Amidst a landscape of shimmering grids and pulsating lights,
The distant chime echoes, drawing curtains on digital nights.
Students, trails of code and gleaming hues,
Disconnect, leaving behind their interactive clues.
The classroom, an expanse of floating nodes and streams,
Lingers in a soft glow, powered down from its beams.
Desks, more like platforms, fade into the data mist,
Awaiting tomorrow's users, with a twist.
Instructors, luminous entities of wisdom and lore,
Archive the day's encounters, readying for more.
For each byte of knowledge shared, a memory is stored,
In this silent realm, where curiosity explored.
The campus, a nexus of interconnected beams,
Grows dim, awaiting tomorrow's dreams.
In this quiet, the potential is palpable, vast and wide,
For the next cycle, when circuits will once again collide.

Innovative Education for Relationship-Based Learning
#innovativeeducation #peerlearning #collaborativelearning #edtech #moodle
In this interview with Dr. Vera Queiroz from http://www.cest.poli.usp.br/en, Dr. Deutsch discusses her insights regarding education. Her insights are particularly relevant in today's world, where we are increasingly connected online. By following her advice, we can create more inclusive and supportive communities where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Dr. Nellie Deutsch, a relationship-based mentor and education technology expert, shared her experience of using technology in the classroom and building communities online. She believes that it is important to have a positive attitude, empathy, and a common goal when building a community. She also emphasized the importance of being flexible and adaptable, and celebrating successes along the way.
Dr. Deutsch started using technology in the classroom because she wanted to reach each and every student. She was initially scared because she didn't know how to use technology very well, but she learned that her students knew more about PowerPoints than she did. She started building communities online in 2009, and she believes that collaboration is natural and that the minute you believe that it will work, you'll find ways to make it work.
Dr. Deutsch believes that empathy is very important in community building. She says that if you group people together and there is a type of dislike for a reason, then the community is not so good. That's why having a common goal is so important. When people have a common goal, they can focus on that and put aside their differences.
Dr. Deutsch also believes that it's important to be flexible and adaptable when building a community. Things don't always go according to plan, so it's important to be able to roll with the punches and make changes as needed. She also believes that it's important to celebrate successes along the way. When people feel appreciated and valued, they are more likely to stay engaged and contribute to the community.
Dr. Deutsch's insights are valuable for anyone who is interested in building a community, whether it's online or in person. Her emphasis on empathy, collaboration, and a common goal is essential for creating a space where people feel connected and supported.
Dr. Deutsch concluded her conversation by emphasizing the importance of being flexible and adaptable when building a community. She said that things don't always go according to plan, so it's important to be able to roll with the punches and make changes as needed. She also believes that it's important to celebrate successes along the way. When people feel appreciated and valued, they are more likely to stay engaged and contribute to the community.
Dr. Deutsch's final words were a reminder that building a community takes time and effort, but it's worth it. When you create a space where people feel connected and supported, they can learn and grow together.

High-immersion virtual reality (VR) has recently gained popularity as a language learning tool. Many educators who were early adopters of Second Life have now started exploring whether VR can also offer a meaningful learning environment to their students. This session will provide an overview of what the research says about the affordances and efficacy of the use of VR for language learning. Attendees will also learn how Immerse leverages VR to provide authentic opportunities for learners’ to learn and practice language and see a demo of the platform.

How to Create Rubrics with ChatGPT
#RubricCreation #ChatGPTGuides #EducationalTools #AssessmentTips #TableStyleRubric #TeachingWithAI #GradingMadeEasy
You can create rubrics with a rubric generator or with Quickrubric by Storyboard That https://www.quickrubric.com or use ChatGPT and the rubric I created on Google docs with the help of ChatGPT https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L6ofVjbC_yzYxXpM1Jh6AmDIxfRRvMi0FLPsv-a1bO4/edit?usp=sharing
Creating rubrics with ChatGPT can be a straightforward process.
Define the Purpose of the Rubric: Before you start, it's essential to know why you're creating the rubric. Is it for a project, a presentation, an essay, or some other assignment? Having a clear purpose will guide the criteria you set.
List Down the Criteria: Think about what you're evaluating. For instance, if it's a presentation, you might consider criteria like content, organization, delivery, and visuals. Write down each of these criteria.
Determine Performance Levels: Decide on the number of performance levels you want in your rubric. Commonly, rubrics have three to five levels, such as "Excellent," "Good," "Average," "Below Average," and "Poor."
Describe Each Level for Every Criterion: This is the most time-consuming step. For each criterion, you'll need to describe what each performance level looks like. For example, under "Content" for a presentation, "Excellent" might be described as "Provides comprehensive information with detailed examples."
Assign Point Values (Optional): If you want your rubric to be quantitative, you can assign point values to each performance level. For instance, in a rubric with five levels, "Excellent" might be worth 5 points, "Good" 4 points, and so on.
Review and Refine: Once you've drafted your rubric, review it to ensure that the descriptions for each level are clear and distinct from one another. It's also a good idea to share it with a colleague or another teacher for feedback.
Use ChatGPT for Feedback and Refinement: If you'd like, you can share your drafted rubric with ChatGPT to get feedback or ask for suggestions on wording, clarity, or any other aspect. Remember, while ChatGPT can provide feedback, it's essential to ensure the rubric aligns with your educational goals and standards.
Implement the Rubric: Once you're satisfied with your rubric, you can start using it to evaluate student work. Over time, you might find that you need to make adjustments based on its effectiveness in assessing student performance.
Remember, a rubric is a tool to provide structured feedback. It should be clear, fair, and aligned with the learning objectives of the assignment or task.
"Create a table-style rubric for a video presentation evaluating the criteria of content accuracy, visual aesthetics, audio clarity, and engagement. The performance levels should be Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, and Poor."
Based on this prompt, ChatGPT would generate a table-style rubric with rows for each criterion (content accuracy, visual aesthetics, etc.) and columns for each performance level (Excellent, Good, etc.), along with descriptions for what each performance level looks like for each criterion.

#chatgpt #chatgptplugins #scholarai #academicpapers #peerreview
ScholarAI plugin: This plugin provides access to a database of peer-reviewed articles and academic research. It can also help you find relevant papers, generate citations, and create bibliographies.
To install a ChatGPT research plugin, you need to have a ChatGPT Plus account. Once you have a Plus account, you can go to the plugin store and search for the plugin you want to install. Once you find the plugin, click the install button and follow the instructions.
Once the plugin is installed, you can activate it by going to the settings page and turning on the switch next to the plugin name.
To use a ChatGPT research plugin, you need to start a conversation with ChatGPT and tell it that you want to use the plugin. For example, you might say "I want to use the ScholarAI plugin" or "I want to use the Science plugin." ChatGPT will then ask you for more information, such as the topic you are interested in or the keywords you want to search for.
Once ChatGPT has the information it needs, it will use the plugin to search for relevant research papers or data. It will then return the results to you.
ChatGPT research plugins can be a valuable tool for researchers. They can help you save time, improve your productivity, and produce better research.
