⚡ Why I use an ELECTRIC lawn mower⚡
Electric lawn mowers are the future, with fossil fuels going out of style and renewable energy becoming very trendy - this will be the best way to be kind to mother earth
Is a battery lawn mower worth it? My channel is all about smart and sustainable technologies, but I never thought that I’d be wanting to talk about ... a lawn mower. But here we are. I’ve been using an electric Ego lawn mower for the past 5 years, but just upgraded to the newest (2020) Ego Power+ 21" self-propelled model. How is it? And why should you consider going electric over gas?

Composting 101: Compost anything FAST & EASY
In this video we have a look at the most simple steps to start composting in your own garden.
Learn how to make compost and get more tips on how to utilize this natural mulch in your garden.
DAIZZ'S TIP:-Composting is a great project to do because it uses food and yard scraps that would otherwise be thrown away to make a nutrient-rich soil amendment.Making compost correctly will allow you to feed your plants essential nutrients and make your soil more fertile, all while using items that would otherwise go into your trash. today I want to share with you all the bare bones to starting a compost pile we move to our off-grid property a little over a year ago and even though we weren't planning to have a really big garden our first year we just had a lot of other things to take care of we did want to start composting and amending our soil because when we're ready to garden we want to be good to go and building compost and soil it's just something that takes time so we thought why not get started now instead of later we did quite a bit of research online before getting started and honestly it's really easy to get overwhelmed there is a scientific process behind composting and it's really easy to get lost in the details and the intricacies so I just wanted to create this video to show you just how easy it can be where to put your compost pile we chose to find a happy medium and put our compost somewhere where it wasn't going to be in the way so is it in our main living and walking area but we also didn't want it too far from the house because we knew that if we're putting our kitchen scraps in the compost pile the further away the less likely it is we would compost so we tried to find that happy medium having it too close to the house you risk it smelling if it's getting out of balance too wet things like that so that's why we chose to have it out of the way and also we didn't know how big we wanted to grow our pile so we put it in a space that allowed it to grow one tip of advice if you have a bigger property and you have a little bit of flexibility on where to put it you might want to put it a place while ideally you want to keep the pile moist for us because we're off-grid water is it in abundance so we try to do it we can we do try to turn the pile and mix things up when we remember again that's probably every two to four weeks I don't know that this is absolutely critical but it can help speed things up when will the compost be ready I believe that really depends on the pile maintenance and also what you put into the pile likely the time of year that you start the pile we started this one in spring early spring and the pile was pretty large when we started and it's condensed down a lot we didn't take super great care of this one but I'd say that looks like pretty good compost and that took probably about six months and for the basics that's about all there is to it guys that's it we're huge advocates of simply getting started well we do try to do a research and understand what we're getting ourselves into ultimately we don't want to suffer from analysis paralysis so while there's probably a lot we could be doing differently in the end this is working out pretty well for us and we do have usable compost that's ready to go in the garden if you enjoyed this video and you want to learn more about the development of our off-grid homestead we have a lot of projects in the works right now we're working on building a timber frame barn we're working on building a large garden we're working on fine-tuning our solar power things like that then feel free to follow our blog its pier living for life calm also if you like this video go ahead and give it a thumbs up and if you're on a Facebook and Instagram we're over there as well and we have links to all that in the description below this video and we'll see you next time Inspired by Better Homes and Gardens Composting for Beginners | The Dirt | Better Homes & Gardens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGRunDez1j4

How to Keep Cats Out of Your Garden 😾 My Controversial Opinion
People stop complaining that cats are destroying your garden when you brought them into the human world in the first place! Wild animals want nothing to do with humans and those we find using your herbal garden as a litter-box have been inter-feared with.
A guide on all the things you can do to keep wandering cats out of your garden. Why would you want to do this? If you have a well tended garden then you might have some experience with the neighbourhood cats using your flowerbed as their litter tray!
If a neighbourhood cat is disturbing your garden there are ways to humanely deter them:
Don't offer cats food, as they're likely to return.
Plant shrubs closely, grow prickly plants, or use small pebbles or chippings to make it difficult for cats to dig.
Keep flower beds watered as some cats don't like wet earth.
Shoo them away by shouting or clapping.
Install an automatic spray that detects movement.
Make it difficult to enter the garden with high, close-boarded fences.
Ask the owner if the cat is neutered and ensure there's a suitable toilet area in their own garden.

Gardening is fun
One major advantage of gardening is simply that it can be a lot of fun. For me and also for numerous other people all over the world, seeing your plants grow is pretty interesting and fascinating.
This is especially true when it comes to growing from seed to harvest. If you see the small seed you have planted and what will grow out of it, it is just unbelievable. Thus, for many people, gardening is a quite joyful hobby.
Embellishment of your home
Depending on the plants you grow, gardening can also improve the appearance of your home. For instance, if you grow some nice flowers in your home, chances are that the overall look of your furniture will improve.
Some good examples of nice flowers that are also rather easy to cultivate are plants from the orchid’s family, which you can get from almost every flower shop in your area. Thus, gardening can not only be productive, it can also improve the overall look of your home.
Grow your own organic food
Through gardening at home, it will also be possible to produce large amounts of vegetables and fruits. Especially if you have a big garden, you could plant numerous plants and harvest plenty of fruits and vegetables in autumn.
You might even harvest so much that you could give away some of them to your family and friends. And the best part of it: You can grow them in an entirely organic manner!
This may not only improve your ecological footprint since you do not have to buy vegetables that are shipped over quite long distances from the store, you could also improve your overall health level since organic food is considered to be healthier compared to conventional food that had been treated with plenty of pesticides.
Even if you do not have a big garden, you could still grow some organic food on your balcony. There are a variety of options and you will be surprised how easy it actually is to grow your own food at home.
Saving money in the long run
Although gardening will cost you some initial investments in equipment, you could still save plenty of money on vegetables and fruits in the long run if you grow them by yourself. By growing your own fruits and vegetables, you will also be quite independent of the organic grocery stores.
Say at one point in time, these stores will significantly increase their prices. You could be pretty indifferent about this since you could grow all you need on your balcony or in your garden. Thus, growing your own plants will also give you a significant amount of freedom and independence from grocery shops.
Education for your children
Gardening is not only a fun hobby, it can also be quite useful to show your children how vegetables and other plant food can be cultivated and where they actually come from.
Many kids in our nowadays society have never seen a plant growing in their lives. They just think that the food comes from the grocery store, but they have no idea how much work had to be put in up to this point.
Thus, by growing plants with your kids, you can improve their knowledge. Your kids will also value their food much more since they know how much work it really takes to grow a plant.
Once they grow up, your kids are also more likely to engage in gardening, which would further improve their ecological footprint since fewer vegetables and fruits have to be bought from the grocery store.
Therefore, you can make a big positive environmental impact by showing your kids how to grow plants in your garden or on your balcony.
Improvement in the understanding of nature
Many people in our nowadays society also lost their connection to nature. They just go to their office job, work long hours, come home late and fall asleep. These steps basically repeat from Monday to Friday.
However, through this daily routine, a vast amount of experience and knowledge from our ancestors will be lost. Through gardening, part of this knowledge can be recovered and the connection of people to nature can be improved to a certain extent.
Reduction of mental health issues
Gardening can also be a wonderful tool when it comes to curing mental health issues. A big fraction of mental health problems in our current society comes from increasing stress levels and information overload. People often feel that they have to be available 24/7 and eventually burn out.
